More openness from Senator Obama [UPDATED 3/14 AM]

I really like how open and candid Senator Obama is - he has released his tax returns, and has openly admitted drug use during his youth. And now, the Senator has released a list of the "earmarks" he asked for over the past three years. [UPDATE] His campaign website lists earmarks requested for FY 2006 and 2007. Apparently, Senator Obama has not released his requests from his time in the Illinois state legislature to the AP - but records are publicly available for 2 years.

After one of the most secretive administrations which has frustrated many Democrats, isn't it time Dems demanded honesty and forthrightness of all their Presidential candidates?

If the NYT says so...

... it must be true! Especially since they endorsed Senator Clinton.

But here is the NYT editorial page calling on Senator Clinton to release her income tax records, to clear the air over the source(s) of the $5 million personal loan.

And here is some disturbing news of wrong vote counts in New York city - some African-American-dominated districts recorded ZERO votes for Senator Obama! To be fair, apparently some districts recorded zero votes for Senator Clinton as well. But the important point is, if Senator Obama gets more votes - say 1/3 of the district vote instead of zero - he would now get a delegate!

Talk about disenfranchising voters - the charge some Clinton supporters now throw at Senator Obama for not wanting Florida and Michigan voters decide the Presidential nominee. Hey, as Speaker Pelosi said, you can't penalize someone for following the rules!

Senator Clinton's money issues...

Apparently, Senator Obama called on Senator Clinton to release her income tax returns, saying he had released his in an effort to be transparent. Update: It looks like he stopped short of asking them to disclose their returns. The abcnews link has a video link, but that keeps directing to a McCain video. Hmph.
The Clinton campaign's response: "When will Senator Obama release the complete details of his relationship with Tony Rezko?" That reminds me of the "Nazi" name-calling in an argument - the moment one party says the opposition is a Nazi, the first party has lost.

Hell, even President George W Bush released his tax returns. So did Senator John Kerry during their 2004 election. So does this mean Senator Clinton is less-transparent than W? Yikes.

I've also read that the story about the Clinton campaign running short of cash may have been a stunt. Though it looks like her staffers offered to go without pay, but the $4 million the campaign raised through Wednesday saved them - for now.
